Special Tours in The Bahamas

  • There are so many ways to see the islands of the Bahamas, and you can take advantage of them while you’re vacationing there. Private air tours are increasingly available, and their prices aren’t as high as you would think. Touring for pleasure can be less stressful if you plan your special tours in advance of your travels to the islands.

A helicopter tour will give you a view of the islands and reefs that is unequaled in any other area where you might travel. The clear waters, white or pink beaches, and tropical foliage are appreciated even more on the ground, after you’ve seen them from the air.

You can also take a sailing tour on a 45-foot catamaran sailboat, while you’re in the Bahamas. They cruise in the pristine waters, ready to give you the thrill of sailing while you are also taking in the beauty around you. You may also be visited in nearby waters by dolphins and other sea animals. Whether you make your sailing ship your vacation destination, or whether you just go for a shorter tour, the boating views of the Bahamas will only increase your desire to see as much of the area as you can. Parasailing is also a fun activity offered by some tour companies.

You might wish to check out the annual art tour in Nassau, called Transforming Spaces. It takes place in March. If you participate, you’ll travel by bus to several various visually stimulating places, along with a tour guide who is knowledgeable about the area and the art. Each space that you will visit has been specifically transformed for this one event, and each will show off the work of different artists.

If you’d like to learn more about this paradise location, the Bahamas Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in a small museum on Elizabeth Avenue, in Nassau. It will shed light on 500 years of the island’s history, including information about the Lucayans, who settled the island originally. After this period came years of pirates, strife and British control, which just ended in 1973. You can take a self-guided museum tour for any size donation.
