Things to do in the Bahamas

  • When your vacation plans are taking you to the Bahamas, you’ll want to do more than just flop on the sand, although that may be high on your list of things to do, especially if you are traveling in the Winter. There are so many other things to do in the Bahamas, that you couldn’t get bored if you tried.

Snorkel and kayak trips are a very popular pastime for tourists visiting the Bahamas. You can go in a smaller group, exploring the bright clear waters of Exuma Cays, for one. You can see many varieties of marine life from within their habitat, or from a private, chartered boat.

Perhaps you are on your honeymoon, or on a trip designed to relight the fires between you and that special someone. Relax on private beaches, away from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist locales, and get to know each other – again.

There are so many different tour packages in the Bahamas, that you may find it difficult to fit in everything you want to see and do, within your vacation time. You can take a full-day tour of some of the quieter Cays, and the tours will stop at the attractions so that you can get a close-up look. Consider reef fishing on a half-day or full-day tour. The captains of the local charter boats have plenty of experience in where to take you to catch the most fish, or the biggest fish. They know the area well, too, so you’ll be taking in sights along the way.

One activity that people always comment on after a trip to the Bahamas is the Blue Lagoon Island dolphin encounter. This may well be one of the more memorable activities that you can experience, anywhere. You can interact with the dolphins, and the trainer will make the event special for you. After you have “met” the dolphins, take some time to lay on the beach, with its pristine waters and soft sand. You can have lunch right on the island, and the boat schedule allows you to spend as much time as you like at the beach, before you head back.
