Bahamas Cruises

  • Cruising in the BahamasIf you’d rather a more leisurely pace to or around the islands of the Bahamas than a plane, cruises are a logical choice, and they can also serve to extend your vacation time beyond just the hours spent on the islands. You can catch a cruise ship from ports in the United States (and a couple in the Caribbean), and you will be able to travel in luxury to the islands. There aren’t really any more relaxing ways to arrive at your vacation destination than on a cruise ship.

There are various departing ports in the United States for larger ships bound for the Bahamas. Once on board, you may head to Freeport and Nassau. Your cruise ship may also stop over on various islands in the chain, so that you can sample the culture of the Bahamas. You may opt for a week-long cruise, which will give you plenty of time to relax in the sun, or even multi-week cruises, that port on islands in the Bahamas.

Nassau CatamaranIn addition to trips aboard luxury liners to get to the Bahamas, you can also take inter-island cruises on smaller yachts or catamarans, once you are in the island chain. The smaller ships may be able to dock in smaller ports, where the larger ships cannot find adequate berthing. In addition, the guides on your yacht cruise are probably islanders themselves, so they can tell you a lot about the islands, their people and their culture. Having the opportunity to island-hop and explore all of the Out Islands of the Bahamas is one of the greatest experiences one can have in the Bahamas, and a smaller boat is the way to go.

Cruises are an excellent way for you to explore the many islands in the Bahamas chain. You may find yourself in less-traveled areas, with fewer tourists and quieter beaches and lodgings. This is especially rewarding if your Bahamas trip is a romantic getaway.

You can book a cruise or an island-hopping yachting adventure online, where it’s easy to compare prices, so you will have more money left to spend on your island retreat.
