Bimini

  • Bimini BahamasThe isle of Bimini is supposedly the peak of the sunken city of Atlantis, according to believers. You can rent a place to stay with not just “hotel” type rooms, but also bedrooms and kitchens. The pale, beautiful green waters are clear, and you can grab a nap if you’ve flown in from Florida, before you make your way out to explore.

It is interesting to think that you could be on the top of Atlantis, as you lay your head down in Bimini. Believers in Atlantis feel that Atlantis will again rise, and Bimini Road might be the place where this rising begins.

Bimini is known for its connection to the Bermuda Triangle, where many ships and planes have disappeared, with all hands lost, never to be heard from again. Each time a mayday is called in, many ships head out to search, and some are found, but many are not seen again.

Fishing in BiminiWhen you settle in for the night after a busy day on the beach or the water, you may even feel the spirits of the past that some believe reside there. You can use a golf cart to get from one place to the next, while you are wandering during the day. You’ll enjoy traveling through Mangroves, and perhaps making a stop at the Fountain of Youth – although it’s not as glamorous as you might have expected.

You might like to begin the summer solstice in Bimini, too. The exact location is supposed to be at the most southern part of the island. After another relaxing day, you might enjoy conch fritters in town. After dinner, you can walk to the old cemetery and the place where Earnest Hemingway used to live.

One of the most adventurous and relaxing activities people enjoy in Bimini is fishing. You can find great action (and peaceful calm in between) when you bring your boat out in between the Bimini islands. The weather is generally great, the conditions are mellow, and the fishing is good.

Every day is special, in and around Bimini. Allow yourself enough time to recharge your own bodies’ batteries, before you head back to civilization.
